Venezuela is the Republic situated in the north of South America. It has the Atlantic to it's side and it's real name is actually the Bolivariana Republic of Venezuela. It is a country located very close to the Equator andis partly in South America and hundreds of small islands in the Caribbean. It borders with countries like Columbia, Guyana and Brazil. With regard to tourism, Venezuela is widely regarded as one of the jewels of South America, and is certainly one of the most visited countries on the continent. With a number of first-class tourist destinations, known across the world, such as Isla Margarita, tourism along with oil and agriculture are the motors behind the venezuelan economy.
The country holds around 27 million habitants and the official currency for the country is the Bolivar, with around 3000 bolivars to the euro. The offical language spoken is Castellano / Spanish. Made up of around 23 federal states, and two island districts. The main federal states are: Zulia, the most populated of the states with 3 million habitants; Miranda with a population of almost 3 million; Distrito Capital, which holds the country's capital, Caracas; and Carabobo.
Its is often stated that Venezuela is a country you have to visit at least once during your lifetime, and its easy to see why, with a large number of beautiful landscapes, animal species, flora, unexplored terrain and the stunning contrasts between land and sea. With sites to visit such as the Andes Mountain Range, El Macizo de Guayana or the River Orinoco...you wont be left dissapointed!
The country also enjoys a diverse culture of mixed races, with a mixture of spanish, indigenous and african cultures, each one with its own unique features, but all of which co-exist successfully to offer visitors a rich variety of culture, gastronomy and art.
